Foreign Ministry – Erdogan’s Lies Disregard Will of Egyptian People

Egypt expressed deep resentment over a speech delivered by the Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan during the opening session of the ordinary round of the UN General Assembly in New York.

In a statement, the Foreign Ministry described what came in the speech about Egypt as “lies and fabrications”.

“The speech disregards the will of the Egyptian people embodied in the June 30 revolution,” the statement said.

“These lies are not strange to the Turkish president who is keen to trigger chaos and division in the Middle East through his support for terrorist organizations to harm the interests of the region’s peoples with the aim of achieving his own aspirations,” it added.

As a result, Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri decided to cancel a planned meeting sought by the Turkish foreign minister on the sidelines of the General Assembly meeting.
