Foreign Ministry – Detained Egyptian Fishermen to Be Deported to Egypt

The Egyptian embassy in Sana’a has finished all procedures pertaining to the release of the Egyptian fishermen who were detained in Yemen’s al-Hadida port.

The fishermen have been deported to the Yemeni capital pending their deportation to Egypt.

“The Egyptian embassy in Sana’a provided accommodation to the fishermen in a hotel near to the embassy to prevent their detention in Sana’a prison,” said Spokesman for the Foreign Ministry Badr Abdul-Atti.

He noted that the Egyptian embassy has coordinated with EgyptAir office in Sana’a to finish the travel procedures as soon as possible.

On 19 October, Yemeni authorities detained 66 Egyptian fishermen for illegally entering the regional waters of Yemen to fish on board of three boats.

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry had been in contact with the Yemeni authorities to release the fishermen.
