FM – Sudan’s Stability Is an Egyptian National Security Goal

Foreign Minister Sameh Shukry held a several meetings on the sidelines of the 69th session of the United Nations General Assembly.

The Foreign Minister met with the foreign ministers of Sudan, South Sudan, Yemen, Ethiopia, Eritrea, Norway, Austria, Ireland, and Portugal along with Thabo Mbeki, the Chairman of the African mediation committee on Sudan.

Shukry said that Sudan’s stability and territorial integrity are Egyptian national security goals adding that Egypt is willing to offer any assistance to the African mediator through investing good relations with all Sudanese parties.

Minister Shukry also held separate meetings with the Foreign Ministers of Ireland and Portugal with whom he discussed developments in the Middle East. The two ministers said they highly appreciate the Egyptian efforts to reach a ceasefire between the Israeli and Palestinian sides.
