FM Meets Irish, Portuguese Counterparts in New York

Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Sunday 2892014 separately with his Irish and Portuguese counterparts on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly meetings in New York to discuss boosting relations especially in political, economic and trade fields.

The meetings also reviewed ways to promote Irish and Portuguese private sector investments in Egypt, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Ambassador Badr Abdel-Atti.

They also tackled the latest political developments in the Middle East where the two ministers pointed out that Egypt has restored its leading role in the region.

They also hailed Egypt’s efforts to reach a ceasefire between the Palestinian and Israeli sides, adding that they will participate in Gaza reconstruction conference organized by Egypt and Norway under the auspices of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.

The meetings also took up the situation in Libya, Syria and Iraq and ways to combat terrorism.
