FM, Libyan, U.S., Arab Counterparts Discuss Libya Developments Over Phone

Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy has discussed latest developments in Libya over phone with his counterparts of Libya, the US, Tunisia, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, and the United Arab Emirates, Foreign Ministry’s spokesman Badr Abdel Aati said.

The minister has also discussed the deteriorating situation in Libya with Arab League Secretary General Nabil el-Arabi, the spokesman added.

Fahmy voiced concern over the security situation in the North African country, reiterating necessity of ending the bloodshed and clashes there, Abdel Aati noted.

The top Egyptian diplomat will make more calls with concerned parties to help restore stability in Libya, the spokesman said.

The talks with US Secretary of State John Kerry took up a number of issues of mutual interest, mainly the situation in Libya and the Palestinian issue, the spokesman underlined.

Fahmy asserted to Kerry the importance of taking the United Nations’ resolutions as a ground to solve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, the spokesman added.
