Fabius – Paris Supports Cairo Politically, Economically

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi held on Wednesday 26112014 a meeting at his residence in Paris with French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius in the presence of Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukri and Ambassador to France Ihab Badawi.

They discussed distinguished relations between the two countries and ways to promote ties in the various fields along with a number of other regional and international issues of mutual interest, mainly the Middle East developments and international efforts to combat terrorism.

The president expressed Egypt’s interest in enhancing cooperation with France in the various fields, stressing that both countries shared identical views regarding several regional and international issues, according to Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef.

Fabius voiced hope that relations between France and Egypt would be enhanced in the various domains. He also stressed the importance of the pivotal role played by Egypt in establishing peace in the Middle East.

He asserted France’s support for the political and economic reforms in Egypt and efforts to combat terrorism.

The meeting covered preparations for the economic conference to be held in Egypt in March 2015.

The consultations reflected consensus between the two sides regarding various issues, particularly fighting terror in the Middle East and Africa.

The meeting also dealt with the situation in Libya as both sides agreed on the need to respect the unity and sovereignty of the Libyan territories.
