Egypt’s Ambassador in Kinshasa Meets Coordinator of Congolese Mechanism to Follow-Up Implementation of Addis Ababa Agreement

Within the framework of Egypt’s keenness to develop and enhance its relations with the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) in all fields, Egypt’s ambassador in Kinshasa Hany Salah received Mr. Francois Mwamba, the general coordinator of the Congolese National Oversight Mechanism of the Addis Ababa Framework Agreements for Peace, Security and Cooperation in the Democratic Republic of Congo and the Great Lakes region, which was signed in February 2013 with the aim of establishing peace and security in the Great Lakes region and reach a lasting and final solution to the crises in eastern Congo, a region which is currently witnessing a sharp conflict between the Congolese government and several rebel movements and armed groups.

Ambassador Salah said that the meeting has discussed ways of Egypt’s efforts to support the work of the mechanism and help the Congolese government in the implementation of its obligations under the agreement.

Salah explained that the meeting also tackled the reform and development of the Congolese army and police through organizing training courses for the Congolese military cadres, which comes in view of Egypt’s assistances to the Democratic Republic of Congo to support its efforts to achieve the comprehensive development and raise the living standards of the Congolese people.
