Egyptian Fishermen Detained in Yemen Released – Foreign Ministry

Egypt’s foreign ministry announced Thursday the release of 66 Egyptian fishermen who were arrested by Yemeni authorities on the accusation of illegally entering the regional waters of Yemen to fish on board of three boats.

The financial court in Yemen’s western province of al-Hadida ruled the release of the fishermen after the intervention of the Egypt’s Ambassador in Sanaa Youssef al-Sharkawy, the ministry said in a statement on its official Facebook page.The three boats will be discharged later.

The fishermen are on their way to the Yemeni capital of Sanaa pending their deportation to Egypt.
