Egypt, Philippine FMS Sign Cooperation Agreements

Egyptian Foreign Minister Nabil Fahmy and his Philippine counterpart Albert Del Rosario held an expanded session of talks attended by the delegation accompanying Egypt’s guest and senior Egyptian officials.

Talks between the two sides covered means of boosting trade, investment and tourist cooperation and a number of outstanding consular issues between the two countries, according to a press release by the Foreign Ministry.

They also exchanged views on some regional and international issues of mutual concern, including the Middle East peace process, the conditions in Libya and Syria and African Union affairs.

Three agreements were signed during the meeting. A memorandum of understanding on tourism cooperation and a visa waiver agreement for holders of diplomatic passports were signed by the two ministers. They also witnessed the signing of an MoU between the Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce.

Del Rosario expressed his country’s support for Egypt’s road map for the future and wish for the Egyptian people to fulfill their aspirations and attain democracy, prosperity and stability.
