Egypt FM Meets Jica Chief

Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry met on Sunday 9112014 with President of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) Akihiko Tanaka. During the meeting, Tanaka voiced happiness for visiting Egypt for the first time since he took up his new post.

He further said that he was satisfied with the level of technical and economic cooperation between Egypt and JICA.

Upon the Japanese official’s request, Shoukry briefed him on the latest political, economic and social developments in Egypt within the past period, said Foreign Ministry Spokesman Badr Abdel-Atty.

Shoukry also reviewed Egypt’s stances toward a number of regional issues along with the latest developments in Libya, Syria, Iraq and ongoing efforts to fight terrorist groups.

The minister further hailed the important projects carried out by JICA and Japan in Egypt.

The Japanese official, for his part, underlined the importance of combating terrorism, as it posed a threat to the whole world.

He also hailed the Egyptian constructive role in this respect.
