Egypt Chairs Euro-Asian Exchanges Union After Turkey’s Presidency for 19 Years

Egyptian Stock Exchange chairman Dr. Mohamed Omran was elected as head of Euro-Asian Exchanges Union after Turkey chaired it for 19 consecutive years since it was established in 1995.

In a press release on Sunday 23112014, the Egyptian bourse said Omran was unanimously elected during the meetings of the general assembly of the Euro-Asian Exchanges Union held in Zagreb, Croatia on November 19-21.

The statement pointed out that the Egyptian exchange is keen on activating the union’s role in forming a lobby that aims to defend emerging markets’ interests in light of great developments and challenges facing them.

The union is one of the best prestigious organizations worldwide in which the total market capital of the participant exchanges hit 700 billion dollars.
