Egypt, Canada Discuss Bilateral Relations, Regional Issues

The meeting of the committee on political consultations between Egypt and Canada was held on Thursday 20112014 at the Egyptian Foreign Ministry premises.

The Egyptian side was chaired by Assistant Foreign Minister for American Affairs Ambassador Mohamed Farid while the Canadian delegation was led by the deputy foreign minister.

The deliberations took up a raft of regional issues of common interest topped by the Ethiopian renaissance dam, developments in the Palestinian territories, peace talks resumption efforts, in addition to the ongoing developments in Iraq, Syria, Libya, and international coalition against Daesh terrorist group, said Faird.

He noted that the meeting also tackled bilateral relations between Egypt and Canada with a focus on boosting economic ties between the two countries as well as the importance of Canada’s participation in Egypt’s economic forum slated for March 2015.

During the meeting, the Canadian government was urged to reconsider the travel warning that has been imposed on Egypt given the stable security conditions in the country especially in South Sinai governorate, said the Egyptian diplomat.
