Court Sentences 79 Brotherhood Members for Violence in Alexandria

An Egyptian court sentenced 79 Muslim Brotherhood members to sentences up 10 years and acquitted seven others on Wednesday over clashes that happened on July 26.

Fifty-five people were sentenced to five years, thirteen to seven years and eleven others to ten years.

The charges included murder, torture and belonging to a terrorist organization.

Egypt declared the Muslim Brotherhood a terrorist organization towards the end of last year following protests against the overthrow of President Mohamed Mursi.
