Azhar Tunnel Closed Ahead of Nov. 28 Scheduled Protests – Mena

Cairo Governor Galal Said decided on the closure of the Azhar tunnel starting Thursday through Saturday for periodic maintenance, state-run MENA reported Thursday.

The 2.6 km long tunnel, which connects the city centre with Salah Salem road, will be closed at 10 p.m. on Thursday until Saturday morning.

The Salafist front is organising protests on Friday November 28, calling on people to take to the streets holding Qurans to “impose the Islamic identity.”

Interior Minister Mohamed Ibrahim said last week that all security apparatuses are ready to “abort the calls of extremist groups which aim for attacking public and private property on November 28.”
