Arab FMS Support Egypt Initiative to Stop Aggression On Gaza

The Arab foreign ministers voiced support for an initiative floated by Egypt to reach a ceasefire deal and stop the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip in order to stem the bloodshed.

The Arab ministers extended thanks to Egypt for its efforts to stop Israeli attacks on Gaza and for opening Rafah crossing for humanitarian cases, they said in a final communiqueacute issued following their urgent meeting on Monday 1472014 at the headquarters of the Arab League (AL) in Cairo.

They also called on all concerned parties to abide by the initiative, calling on Israel to immediately cease fire in the Gaza Strip.

Israel is fully responsible for all human and material damage incurred by the Palestinian people as a result of the ongoing brutal aggression on the enclave, the ministers said.

The Arab ministers mandated the Arab Group in New York to exert further efforts to support a bid by Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to “provide international protection for the Palestinian people and the Palestinian territories.”

They also assigned the Arab Group in Geneva to call on the UN Human Rights Commission and the Human Rights Council to hold a special session to discuss the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip.

“An open-membership ministerial committee, grouping Kuwait, Jordan, Egypt, Morocco, Palestine and the AL chief will be formed to head for the United Nations to demand stopping this aggression and to provide protection for the Palestinians,” said the communiqueacute.

The top Arab diplomats stressed support for the Palestinian reconciliation government, calling on the International Community to render this government a success.

They called on all countries worldwide to ban the import of products made in Israeli settlements that are built on occupied Palestinian territories and to follow the example of the European Union, which prevents its members from financing any projects in Israeli settlements.

The participants called on Arab and international media outlets to highlight Israeli violations against the Palestinian territories.

“The council is in permanent session to follow up the latest developments in the Palestinian lands,” read the communiqueacute.
