Acquittal Sentence Issued Today Over ‘Simon Bolivar Street’ Case [press release]

Kasr Al-Nile Misdemeanor Court today, Tuesday, acquitted Ibrahim Hussein Abdo Khalil, over the misdemeanor No. 129462012 (Kasr Al-Nile Misdemeanor) in the case that is known in media as “Simon Bolivar” incidents.

During a hearing held on 25 December 2012, the court ordered the imprisonment of 4 defendants in presence for three years with labor and a fine of EGP500, and 11 defendants in absentia over the charges of attacking public servants besides damaging and stealing the shops in Simon Bolivar Street.

The imprisoned defendants appealed the sentence. During a hearing held on 27 February 2013, Kasr Al-Nile Appellant Misdemeanor Court decided to acquit the defendants. It also cleared, today, Ibrahim Hussein Abdo of the charges against him.
